The representation of race and ethnicity in the media has had a profound impact on the ways in which ethnic minorities are perceived and treated in society. In this course, we will learn about the history of ethnic representations in the media (such as film and television), learn to analyze ethnic representations, demystify stereotypes and discuss the future of ethnic representation in the media. We will focus primarily on ethnic representation in the U.S. and Japan.
