This seminar presents a review of the basic foundations of phonetics and phonology (e.g. phonetic transcriptions, allophones, phonological features) as well as more advanced topics (e.g. understanding and reading spectrograms, phonological theories). Throughout this course we will put this knowledge into practice, doing spectrogram analyses and solving phonological problems.
The course format is made of lectures and pair work conducted exclusively in English.
