This course will introduce the main issues and methods in teaching English as a second or foreign language.

(15) Classroom interaction
The class will follow "A Course in English Language Teaching" by Penny Ur (Cambridge University Press, 2012), with lectures, discussions, and student presentations based on the textbook. Students will be expected to read about 10 to 20 pages of the textbook as homework each week.
The class will be taught in English, though Japanese may be used when necessary.
Students will be graded based on their class participation, presentations, occasional written homework, and final paper.
