This course is intended to provide a review of psycholinguistic research in language acquisition with a particular focus on the production and perception of speech sounds by infants and adults. Topics include but are not limited to the following questions: How early can infants perceive and produce speech sounds in their native language? How can we know whether babies can perceive sounds if they cannot speak? What are the differences between first and second language acquisition?
At the end of this course, students should be familiar with the terminology and methods used in the field of language acquisition, and able to understand and discuss experimental and theoretical work addressing topics related to language acquisition.
The course format is primarily made of lectures and small group discussions conducted exclusively in English.

Oral presentation 30%
