The goal will be to review some important open issues in sentence comprehension.
The course will be based on a series of selected readings (journal articles) that address the following four topics: expectation-based processing, the role of working memory, good-enough processing and underspecification. Students will be expected to have read the papers in advance, and will be asked to come to class with three critical questions in writing that related to the paper.
Students will be evaluated based on the critical questions they deliver for each class. The evaluation criterion is originality of comments.
