進展著しい生物言語学・進化言語学の現状と展望を、生成文法のこれまでの理論展開を背景にしながら講じる。これらの学際領域への理解を深め、新しい言語科学の可能性を探ると同時に、生成文法研究の標準理論からミニマリスト・プログラムまでの流れを俯瞰して、この領域が言語の生物学をどのように実践・推進してきたかという観点からの再評価を試みる。
