This course presents the basic foundations of phonetics and phonology. It introduces students to the terminology and concepts of articulatory phonetics and contrastive phonology.
By the end of this class, students should have demonstrated their knowledge of phonetic and phonological terminology and their ability to perform phonetic transcriptions, describe phonetic symbols, and solve phonological problems.
The course format is made of lectures and pair work conducted exclusively in English.
