本授業では、フレドリック・ジェイムソンのリアリズム論The Antimonies of Realism (Verso 2013)を輪読し、「リアリズムとは何か」という根源的な問いについて考察していきます。ジェイムソンによれば、「リアリズム」とは、ジャンル横断的であり、かつ時代横断的な概念です。リアリズムとは、文学上の概念であるにとどまらず、演劇、映画、写真など、さまざまな芸術ジャンルをカヴァーする概念となっています。またリアリズムは、リアリズム、モダニズム、ポストモダニズムの三位一体の一つであると同時に、この歴史的な発展の原動力となる根源的な概念でもあります。本授業の目的は、このようにリアリズムを弁証法的な、長い過程として捉えるジェイムソン独特の思考法に慣れ親しむとともに、それを参加者の問題意識と接続していくことにあります。幅広い分野の文学研究者、映画研究者、メディア研究者のみなさんの参加を待ち望みにしています。
