応用言語学（主として、第二言語習得への認知的アプローチとそのアプローチが外国語教授法にもつ意義）。また、語学教材としても有用でありながら文学的言説そのものとして価値のある、言葉遊びや詩、その他の芸術的な言語使用に興味がある。
