My main research areas are sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and language policy studies. I am primarily interested in the context of Japan and the Japanese language, with a particular focus on bilingualism and multilingualism. I am also interested in theorization and exploration of qualitative research in sociolinguistics and the related fields.
